Back to the Office

I keep these two things on my desk at the office. The mug is a good 10 ounces and has "Home Improvement" on the back side. I have tea in my desk drawer so if I forget to bring tea from home or want tea after I've finished what I brought, I can make a nice big mug of it. I really need to drink more water. I'm not drinking as much as I think I should. That would probably help me get rid of this infection too; drown those buggies.

The bowl is a candy dish I was given as a Christmas present many years ago. That's the Pfaltzgraff Christmas pattern "Winterberry". I used to keep this full. After every holiday, I would dash over to the grocery and buy $20 or so of the 50% off candy. It wasn't unusual for me to have 5 or 6 bags of stuff in my bottom desk drawer. The guys in the office would often buy a bag or two if they saw it on sale.

Then, one day I realized that, when I'm bored or stressed, I eat. I found myself polishing off a bag of candy a day. I'd eat that over the healthy lunch I'd bring from home. Or, if I thought I'd go out to get lunch and then decide I didn't want to, I'd eat the candy I had in the bowl and then go after the stuff in the desk. Not good at all.

So, I've gone from using the bowl for candy to using it for teabags. Purists will tell you to use one bag and one bag only per cup. Toss it after that first use. To me, it seems very wasteful, when I know I can get 2-3 cups out of a bag. Hence, I save the bag and stick it in the former candy dish to be used later. I decided, at the end of June, both needed to be washed.

They will go back to the office tomorrow, assuming I remember. What I think I'd like in the candy dish is trail mix. I'm thinking that would be much healthier for me and would satisfy those munchies I will get mid-afternoon. Now to find a trail mix recipe that I like.

Beverage:  Cranberry Grape Juice
