So You Might Want To

Meredith sent me a box of fun on Monday. Inside were some cute things which merit their own post and a bag of M&M's.

Seriously. Candy Apple M&M's. I took a deep breath. The last offering in the "Hey, what if we stuck this flavor into M&M's" did not go over well. That was the birthday cake ones. Would you believe I still have half a bag of those? I eat about 10 at a sitting. I should just toss them. I really don't like them and trying to convince myself otherwise because Meredith sent those to me is a struggle. I feel like a schmuck for tossing them when they were a gift, but they really are not good.

Last year, I tried the "new" flavor, Candy Corn. Remember that fiasco? Francesca and I still have a laugh over how awful those were. They are back in the stores and friends who know I like M&Ms will point them out. I can, thankfully, say, "Ugh. Don't bother" when someone offers to buy me a bag. Heck, the raccoons wouldn't eat them, that's how bad they were.

I don't get out like Meredith does. I hadn't seen this flavor. Given M&Ms fails with their last specialty flavors, I was not hopeful. They have the same coloration as my all time seasonal favorite, Cherry, which is available only at Valentine's Day. (I finally finished the last of the 4 bags I bought then. Next year, 6 bags.) When torn open, the scent of the candies is just like any other bag of M&Ms. The result? They aren't half bad. Considering I've had way worse, these are not bad. The candy apple flavor is not much, just hinted at. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be infused in the milk chocolate center or in the shell, but these weren't bad at all. I could get 2 or 3 bags and add them to a trail mix for a different taste.

So this is an endorsement. If you see these, try them. Just leave the Candy Corn ones to rot on the shelf.
