So I Wash the Rug

I don't know what it is about this rug. It was $5.99 at Meier years ago. Cats love to stalk it. It also tends to be on the receiving end of hairballs or other "leavings". I swear it's spent more time being washed than on my living room floor.

It was in the basement from yet another incident when the water backed up. So last week, I washed it. It's quite heavy so, in the spring, summer and fall, I wash it when I can toss it over the deck railing and it can dry that way. It takes a good 4-5 days to air dry in the basement.

I brought it up Saturday after returning home from an event. It was claimed, immediately.
The rug matches the colors in my living room so I like having it out. Betsy and Rascal used to love this rug too. They would attack it just as Pilchard does.
It's really quite amusing. She'll stalk the rug, wind up and attack. Of course, because there is no backing on the rug, she and it will slide a few feet. Then she balls it up, chomps on it and rakes it with her back claws. This will get repeated for about 15 minutes. It was kind of hard to get a photo because both of them know the camera. When I would point it at her, she would stop and just sit on the rug. The second I put the camera down, though, it was back to an attack. I finally kept the camera in my lap.

Mija just watches. I haven't seen her attack the rug, yet.
